Two trainees at The Bolton News have launched a new fashion section for the newspaper’s popular website.
Minard Sub editor Jenny Minard and reporter Tracey Scott approached newsroom bosses with the idea for the ‘Bolton Boutique’ after feeling that there were too many space constraints put on fashion items in the paper. The pair, both of whom are currently undertaking NCE’s, thought an online channel might prove more successful for fashion reporting – giving them greater flexibility with content and images.Their bosses apparently agreed and the section is currently in its fifth week online. Minard spoke to How-Do about the reaction to the site so far. “It's been really positive,” she said. “Everyone we have worked with on the stories thinks it’s a great idea that there is now a channel to inform readers about fashion. We have been teasing the site in the newspaper to attract more readers, and that seems to be working well.” The site is currently refreshed every Wednesday, although Minard noted that she and Scott are constantly updating the news pieces. A task she admitted to “really enjoying.” http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/leisure/fashion Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
