Giles Bastow, one of the central figures behind the launch of Chimp Magazine, has told How-Do that the first issue was “met with an overwhelmingly positive attitude” from both advertisers and readers, and that the new issue is set to build on that.
Despite the length of time it took to facilitate the plans the concept appears as fresh as when it was conceived and, according to Bastow, hit the right tone with “advertisers, charities, community groups and readers alike.”
He said: “Many of the companies who advertised have received positive feedback for the products they promote.
“One small business - Made By Me - actually had a call from the BBC who asked them to appear on local radio to talk about what they do.
“This was great news for us as it proves we can help businesses, large or small, get noticed.”
Bastow did not reveal sales/circulation figures for Chimp (the print run was 10,000) but noted that it was “more successful than we could have ever hoped for” and that issue two, which has just come out, is building on that momentum.
“Although we were happy with issue one,” he proclaimed, “there is always room for improvement, and issue two delivers that in spades.”
The new publication features an exclusive Doves interview and a feature on the decline of local pubs. It is available for £1.80 in newsagents now.
