Manchester Evening News reporter Amanda Crook and BBC North West Tonight’s Laura Yates have been shortlisted for the Medical Journalists’ Association Awards.
They’re both in the regional journalist category which is voted for by association members - of which there are around 450. It was Crook’s reports including the campaign to help Christie Hospital recuperate the millions of pounds it lost in the Icelandic banking crisis that led to the recognition. Yates reported on 2 exclusives including NHS loans and cervical cancer. The North West journalists are up against reporters from South Wales Evening Post and Eastern Daily Press, as well as journalists from BBC Scotland and BBC West of England. The winners will be announced at the Royal Society of Medicine next month. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
