The funeral will be held today for Peter Greenhalgh, who’s died, aged 79.
He was one of Bolton’s best-known journalists, reporting for more than 20 years for the then Bolton Evening News. He retired in 1989. He was Industrial Editor on the paper and later Deputy News Editor, covering stories including the Top Storey Club fire in 1961, where 19 people died. After leaving the paper he went on to become a freelance journalist at Bolton Crown Court and also the University of Bolton (then the Bolton Institute). His funeral is being held at the East Lancashire Crematorium in Radcliffe. Indeed it was at the Radcliffe Times where the “reporter of the old school” began his journalist career. Something to add?
