Jonathan Brown has been appointed as the Indy’s northern correspondent replacing Mark Hughes who has returned to London and the paper’s news desk.
Brown, 39, began his career at PA in 1993. He started as a reporter but his eight year spell also included a period as picture editor before he finally became news editor at the news agency.
He moved to the Indy in 2001 as deputy news editor before he changed direction in 2004 when he became a staff writer.
Brown told How-Do his decision to move north was prompted by a desire “to have my own patch but without necessarily specialising in a single subject.”
His fellow Indy staffers in the region include Ian Herbert, northern football correspondent, and Paul Vallely, an assistant editor.
All the Indy team work from their homes as the paper no longer maintains a formal office in Manchester. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
