Lancashire Telegraph reporter Nafeesa Shan won the award at the GG2 Diversity and Leadership Awards which were held in London.
 Shan The 25 year old won a cash prize and a week’s work experience at the Daily Mail. She beat competition from across the country for the award, hosted by the Asian Media and Marketing Group. Shan was praised for a "string of exclusives" including an interview with Umar Shafiq who’s father was murdered trying to defend him from bullies. Judges were also impressed by her "sensitivity, endeavour and enterprise." "I was shaking when they read my name out as the winner. I was so surprised," said Shan.
