Jonathan Lee, 40, the incoming new editor of the North West Evening Mail, has confirmed his start date at the paper will be Tuesday 25 March.
He stepped down as editor of the UK’s most northerly weekly, the Shetland Times, last Thursday.
He replaces Steve Brauner at the NWEM who left to join Crain’s Manchester Business last autumn.
Lee’s last few months at the Shetland Times were full of incident. In addition to the paper winning its second consecutive newspaper of the year award in Scotland, staff at the paper in December passed a vote of no confidence in him. Lee subsequently said that the vote had not prompted his interest in the NWEM position as it has been advertised previously and initial interviews had already taken place.
Lee has previously worked at the Westmorland Gazette and the Blackpool Gazette. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
