Liverpool Direct workers banned from reading Daily Post blog

Liverpool Direct Ltd (LDL), a public/private partnership between Liverpool Council and BT has banned its workers from reading a Liverpool Daily Post blog.

Liverpool Direct workers banned from reading Daily Post blogThe paper’s city editor, David Bartlett, has previously written a number of stories about what he calls the “controversial venture” which would appear somewhat more contentious than his December 1st entry concerning Christmas presents for employees.

In this post, he revealed that staff had been given mouse mats and toys as an early gift - each branded with the company logo and “LDL is a great place to work.”

Bartlett also published a message from the company’s intranet explaining what it was all about:

Liverpool Direct workers banned from reading Daily Post blog"Christmas is just around the corner but we are delighted to officially launch LDL's new internal scheme 'LDL is a Great Place to Work' and thanks to our 'Great Place to Work' Champions each member of staff across Liverpool Direct Limited has been treated to some goodies to mark the launch.

"Whilst Liverpool Direct Limited already has a staff suggestion scheme; Bright Ideas, it is not to be confused wth Great Place to Work. The purpose of Great Place to Work is that the ideas submitted are not related to business performance."

This morning, How-Do contacted Liverpool Direct Ltd for a comment, but by the time of publishing none was forthcoming.

Liverpool Council confirmed that LDL had banned the blog for its staff, but it was not a council decision as their employees could still access it.

The mind bloggels.

...at your spelling.

Do you know in the 21st century these people frighten me firstly for coming up with such a crass campaign and secondly for them trying to ban people from reading comment from a regional newspaper. We are always a fine line away between dictatorship and democracy.
