Investigative Pakistani crime reporter Mansoor Hassan has won his six year struggle to live in the UK following his exit from Pakistan in 2002 after receiving numerous death threats.
Hassan, who now lives in Manchester, was backed in his campaign by the NUJ and the MEN-owned weekly paper The Advertiser.
He built his reputation in Pakistan on his exposes of police and government corruption which led ultimately to his hasty departure from that country in 2002.
He has been doing odd-jobs and working as a Red Cross volunteer while awaiting the final decision of his previously-rejected claims for asylum.
He is now believed to be seeking employment as a communications officer with organisations such as the Red Cross and Oxfam.
