Wednesday 26 November: Meet The Editors – business news. Engage with Andy Bounds (FT), David Parkin (TheBusinessDesk.com) and Steve Brauner (Crain’s Manchester Business) at this How-Do breakfast briefing.
This latest event in our regular series of industry briefing sessions – spanning news, research, PR, marketing and digital communications, draws together three of the region’s leading and most influential names in business journalism.
The breakfast event has been confirmed for 8am to 10am on Wednesday 26 November and will be hosted by the law firm Cobbetts at its office at 58 Mosley Street in central Manchester.
The three journalists will be discussing their editorial roles and interests and outlining the challenges that face them as they create award-winning business news.
A light breakfast will be available from 8am and the three presentations will commence at 8.30. A Q&A session will follow the presentations and proceedings will be wrapped up sharply by 10am at the latest.

Meet The Editors - speakers

Andy Bounds
Andy Bounds was appointed the FT’s northern correspondent in July having previously been the paper’s EU correspondent in Brussels.
The 37 year old is a graduate of Leeds where he studied International History and Politics. Following University he gained a GNVQ in journalism and began his career as a reporter for the Kent Messenger newspaper group in 1995. His reporting duties he said covered “crime, golden wedding anniversaries and escaped bulls.”
He joined the FT in 1997 as a sub before becoming Central America correspondent based in Panama City covering Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Belize.
In 2002 he moved back to the UK to edit the Observer diary column in London and then subsequently took up the same role for the European edition based in Brussels.
In 2006 he became EU correspondent for trade, agriculture, transport, the environment, health, consumer protection… and also covered the European parliament.
David Parkin
Former Yorkshire Post business editor David Parkin launched TheBusinessDesk.com in November 2007 offering the Yorkshire region a daily diet of business news. In September this year it launched a North West edition. His remit as editorial director covers both editions.
Parkin was business editor of the Yorkshire Post from 2000 to 2007 where he collected several awards for the paper’s editorial coverage.
A high profile figure in the Northern business community, he is often called upon to host and chair events and is regularly invited to offer his opinions on major business stories on national TV and radio. Parkin has held senior roles on newspapers in London, Cardiff and the Midlands, and he has secured many exclusive interviews with major business figures including Sir Ken Morrison, Lord Hanson - and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Steve Brauner
Brauner was appointed launch editor of Crain’s Manchester Business in September 2007 prior to the launch last December.
He came to Crain’s from the North West Evening Mail in Barrow where he had been editor for five years. His previous roles included business editor and assistant editor of the Liverpool Daily Post and editor of North West Business Insider.
He has won several awards including the BT UK Business Journalist of the Year Award for articles exposing malpractice by a firm of corporate finance advisers.
The US publisher Crain’s is a privately owned company which publishes 29 titles across the US and internationally. It currently publishes just four Crain’s city business papers beyond Manchester: Detroit, Chicago, New York and Cleveland.
