EN Magazine has announced a bit of a first with the news that its next Deals of the Year shindig will be the first business event of its kind to take place at the MEN Arena. What’s more ex-Rolling Stone Bill Wyman will be topping the bill…

The title, edited by forthright business commentator Martin Regan, is hosting the event at the Arena on the 23 October in a move that some observers will see as an upping of the ante with respect to the competitive (and often lucrative) business events sector.

In an interesting move Bill Wyman has been secured as a headline speaker and will be regaling the audience with tales of Rolling Stones and restaurants, as he charts the rise of his Sticky Fingers chain.

Sticking on the stadium-filling tip, there will also be an auction of rock memorabilia to raise money for the Versus Cancer charity. This is set to include a signed guitar from the Foo Fighters.

Business, it seems, is the new rock and roll.

Jon Moulton, the founder of private equity firm Alchemy Partners, will also be on hand to share his views on how the world of corporate finance can cope with the seemingly thickening dark clouds of recession.

Nominations for the awards can now be made online at the EN website.

The categories are: Best Technology Deal; Turnaround of the Year; Best Deal Under £20m; Best Deal £20m-£100m; Best Deal £100m+; Debt Provider of the Year; Equity House of the Year; Banker of the Year; Corporate Financier of the Year; Lawyer of the Year; Venture Capitalist of the Year.
