The Manchester Evening News has launched its annual Business of the Year Awards, as it looks to recognise the best companies in Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire.
Now in its 15th year, the scheme rewards excellence across four financial categories - turnover under £10m, £10m-£25m, £25m-£50m and turnover over £50m.

Last year’s headline winners were N. Brown, Bruntwood, WFEL Ltd, Thos Storey, EDM Ltd and ODS.

Bosses are apparently hoping for a record number of entries for 2008, with the judges looking for companies that are “enterprising, competitive and innovative.”

The awards are only open to businesses that have been trading for over three years, although the Young Business of the Year award caters for those that fall outside this timeframe.

The winners will be announced at the Midland Hotel on Thursday 6 November 2008.
