Simon Toft, the commercial director of MEN Media, has left the position he was promoted to in last year’s management shake-up. Toft had spent the last twenty years within the GMG group.

At the time of writing How-Do could not confirm whether a replacement had been brought on board to take on the commercial director role, although it is believed that it has been (temporarily at least) absorbed into the existing management structure.

Toft was promoted to the role in September last year as part of the restructure that saw Mark Rix assume the mantle of managing director of MEN Media.

Prior to the move Toft was deputy managing director of MEN Media Sales, having worked his way up from a junior sales position at the start of his career.

Speaking to How-Do he confirmed his departure, explaining: “Having spent 20-years with the group and gone from telesales to commercial director I felt it was the right time to think about my future ambitions and, at aged 41, it would be now or never if I was going to make the break.”

He added that there were “a couple of possible projects” he was currently looking into, but that he was keeping his options open with a mind to future opportunities.

So, after spending 20 years striving to reach the 'top', once there it becomes a good time to move on?
