MEN Media has raided the ranks of Manchester United’s marketeers to sign up Mark Goodfellow, the former campaign and marketing manager for MU Interactive, as the group’s new customer relationship manager.
Goodfellow will be familiar to many on the city’s marketing scene after previously working for JWT as data planning manager, servicing accounts such as Alton Towers, Plumbs and ATS. He left the agency three years ago to join Manchester United PLC and during that time oversaw all email and web marketing, while managing the team’s ‘online partners’ such as Nike, Betfred and Britannia. Through his role at MU Interactive he is also regarded as being a key player in the redesign of manutd.com, a move that has netted the club some 500,000 extra visitors to the site on a month on month basis. Goodfellow’s new position will see him take responsibility for the entire CRM strategy of MEN Media, as he works towards ensuring the company is more responsive and in tune with the needs of its advertisers. His expertise in the digital arena is also set to be a boon for a firm reportedly in the process of launching a new youth portal and redefining its online recruitment proposition. Mark Rix, MEN Media’s MD, said of his new recruit: “His experience will be invaluable in what for us is a relatively new area and one which will enable us to get closer than ever to our customers in the most intelligent and efficient way possible.” Something to add?
