The Manchester Evening News is today set to follow in the footsteps of other regional papers, most notably the Bolton Evening News, by launching a ‘Pet Idol’ competition for its readers.
Gillian Buttree The promotion provides MEN Media with an opportunity to engage with the public and also exploit a new commercial route, as it is being organised in conjunction with Handforth-based retail giant Pets At Home.Exact details of the competition will be revealed later today, but in a pertinently timed profile of Pets at Home marketing director Gillian Buttree in the paper on Tuesday some details were given away. The competition is open to all pets - regardless of species, breed or previously celebrated talents – that are based within the Greater Manchester area. Local winners, pulled in from seven districts across the city area, will each receive £100 and then go forward to a grand final to compete for £500 of Pets at Home vouchers. According to Buttree, speaking in the paper, members of the public will vote on the participants to decide the eventual winner. She commented: “The British are famous for their love of pets and we are expecting a great response.” http://www.petsathome.com/ www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk Something to add?
