Following on from last week’s news that Crain’s Manchester Business publisher Arthur Porter was looking to draw a virtual line between the on and offline formats of the paper, comes another (albeit smaller) change with an alteration to the daily email service.
Members of the business community that have warmed to the weekly title will be used to receiving its daily emails in their inboxes at 3pm each day. However, yesterday, after consultation with readers, Porter decided to switch the timing of this to noon. Crain's: boosting offline subscribers He explained the decision in an email positing to subscribers, noting: “An important aspect was that a lot of you felt it would be really useful to have them (the updates) before lunch as you would have more time to read them and that they could possibly contain good lunchtime conversation. Porter added: “If a major event occurs later that day we will send out a separate e-mail notifying you of that event so you read it first from Crain’s.” He also took the time to impart the dual on and offline proposition that Crain’s will now be pushing harder from September, commenting “don’t forget none of the stories on the daily e-mails appear in the print edition, so to get the whole picture of what is happening in business in Manchester, you need to subscribe.” Last week’s decision to delineate more clearly between the on and offline offerings at Crain’s generated a strong discussion here on How-Do. Since Crain’s arrival on the business publishing scene Insider has also changed the timing of its weekly email updates to a daily frequency. www.crainsmanchesterbusiness.co.uk Something to add?
