The Foundry Move Commercial, which was launched at the end of April and promotes itself as ‘Liverpool’s only magazine for property professionals’, has increased its frequency from quarterly to bi monthly after just one issue.
Publisher Kim O’Brien said feedback had been so positive that they had decided to bring publication forward to the beginning of July and added that they are now planning issue three for early September.
The total distribution of the A4 publication has also been increased from the launch issue’s 17,000 to 20,000 for issue two. The majority of the magazines are distributed to businesses on Merseyside and through property agents and other professional firms in Liverpool and across the North West. O’Brien said there they were also increasing the number of copies mailed to property professionals nationwide.
The magazine’s parent company, Move Publishing, produces a residential property magazine for Liverpool, Your Move, and a listings title, Go Out. The company was set up by Dave and Kim O’Brien in 1999. The company has more recently moved into events with the business focussed Merseyside Property Awards and a consumer led property show, Your Move Live.
O’Brien said that market feedback to the new title had been overwhelmingly positive but what was particularly exciting was that it appeared the magazine had found a real niche.
She told How-Do that one commercial property agent, Keppie Massie, had advertised some space in The Foundry in the heart of Ropewalks with the title and had also run the ads in other titles including the Daily Post, North West Insider, Estates Gazette and Property Week. O’Brien said the agent had told her that to date the sole viewings the property has had, had resulted from the Move Commercial ads.
“We’ve hit the ground running. People like the fact that it’s so focussed.”
O’Brien said as a company they had learnt from their experiences and now believed that it would be an “easier product to launch in another city than a consumer title.
“The amount of interest shown from outside Liverpool to the launch of Move Commercial has been much greater than that we encountered when we launched Your Move. It’s something we’re now actively looking at.”
Manchester would be a natural location for the company’s second commercial title and O’Brien would not rule it out when questioned and pointed out that the city currently lacks a dedicated commercial property title. She added however that there were a number of potential locations for the company to explore.
