New title, big plans
Viva will be the product of Manchester-based 7even Publishing Group, the publisher of DV8, under franchise, since mid 2008. The company, under the auspices of director and editor Emma Wilkinson, has also produced Brash magazine.

Wilkinson said that she and her team were "a bit hectic" at the moment and would not have full details of Viva Manchester until its launch "in a couple of months".

However, she did confirm that "we have dropped the franchise with DV8" and that the new title would be monthly, free to pick up and boast a print run of 12,000 copies.

In an email circulating from the firm she added that DV8 had "built up the reputation as the fastest picked-up lifestyle magazine in the city", imparting: "All our readers and our reputation will be moving forward with Viva, it is a very exciting time for us all."

Wilkinson: hectic
7even has already launched the first issue of Viva in Leeds, showcasing the model that the Manchester title will follow.

The firm describes it as being "targeted towards 20-40 year old young professionals that live and breath the city and want to be kept up do date on the latest fashion and beauty, most fantastic restaurants, nightlife, entertainment, motoring and property in and around Leeds City Centre."

A notice on the Viva website announces: "Viva Leeds will be soon expanding to other cities in the North such as Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle and Liverpool, so watch this space."

The Manchester edition of Viva is expected to follow DV8's distribution model, with pick up points in venues such as bars, restaurants, hairdressers, retail outlets and some apartment blocks.

So, the DV8 title was so successful they've dropped it. Really?
