News Associates/Sportsbeat has opened a new Manchester base to provide copy services and journalism training. The move marks the award-winning firm’s first sortie outside its original London base.
Some footballers, fighting. The agency is well known in the regional newspaper market, providing copy to a host of Northern titles. It currently has agreements in place to feed news items to more than 40 newspapers from the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In the latest move, News Associates has launched free one day workshops in an effort to get new students to sign up for journalism courses at the Piccadilly office, while Ian Gilbert from Melbourne’s The Age has also been appointed as head of journalism. Managing editor James Toney was reported as saying that Manchester is “a fantastic base” for the new outfit. He commented: "We couldn't think of a better city to be based in. The growing level of media opportunities in Manchester and the north west will be a great benefit to all our graduates." http://www.newsassociates.co.uk/ Something to add?
