The winners will be announced at an anticipated sell-out lunch ceremony at the Radisson Hotel at Manchester Airport on Friday 29 June.

The two previous year’s events have been held at Ravenglass in Cumbria and the JJB Stadium in Wigan.

There are seven categories of awards. Richard Catlow, editorial director of MEN weekly newspapers and current chair of the Society of Editors North West said:” This year has been just print again but it is something we are keen to explore with BNG for next year, broadening out the awards to include at least digital publications initially. Although we’ve not had a record number of entries this year, it’s still a very good number.”

The winners will each receive £700 and runners up will receive £150.

Bill Anderton of BNG said: "Shortlisting the nominees was a difficult job for the judges with a very high standard of entries.”
