NWDA launches ‘Bold Venturers’ book to inspire entrepreneurs | Print |  Email to a friend
Monday, 19 November 2007
The NWDA, in tandem with Cities500 International Publishers, is launching a book this week that draws on the experiences of 40 visionary business people to inspire would-be entrepreneurs in the North West and beyond. Phil Redmond, one of the individuals showcased in the 160-page hardback, will unveil the title at the Business North West Exhibition on Thursday.

Alongside Redmond, Bold Venturers discusses the achievements and strategies employed by some of the key business role models originating from, or operating in, the region. These include a host of media and marketing names, with individuals like Nicola Shindler, Marcie Incarico and the late Anthony H Wilson rubbing pages with Paul Heathcote, Tom Bloxham and Norman Foster.

Speaking about the need for the publication Bryan Gray, chairman of the NWDA and the Liverpool Culture Company, commented: "The importance of business leaders and successful entrepreneurs as role models for existing and future generations of entrepreneurs has long been recognised.

“The profiles in this book are a reflection of our - and the government's - determination to increase entrepreneurship in the UK by inspiration, challenge and role models through the Enterprising Britain competition and Enterprise Week, which are designed as a national celebration of enterprise to inspire young people to make their ideas happen.

"This book is only a 'snapshot' of the entrepreneurial spirit that exists across the Northwest. But as well as being a celebration, I believe it will be a long lasting reminder of that success."

Gray will join Redmond to launch Bold Venturers in the ‘Innovation Lounge’ at the exhibition, taking place at Manchester Central, on Thursday at 1pm.

Bold Venturers also features a foreword by John Hutton MP, the Secretary of State for Business and is supported by Liverpool John Moores University and the North West Business Leadership Team.

The book is available to buy for £25.
