The NWDA has commenced a media partnership, brokered by PHD North, with The Daily Telegraph’s Saturday edition to promote the North West as the ideal short break destination.
When contacted to confirm the details of the deal PHD refused to comment, but certain information has already leaked out. The perfect place for a short break Trade reporting suggests that the promotion will kick-start this Saturday, with a 16 page supplement in the paper featuring famous sons and daughters of the region, including world champion boxer Ricky Hatton. The campaign will then run until the end of the year, as the NWDA continues its current tourism push. The Telegraph deal is said to be worth an undisclosed six-figure sum. Manchester’s PHD North is retained as the NWDA’s media agency and last year launched the highly-acclaimed film The Beautiful North for the development body. This incorporated a host of celebrities, including corpulent comedian Johnny Vegas, extolling the virtues of the region in an entertaining rebuke to the ingrained ‘it’s grim up north’ expression. The film premiered at a special event in London and was shown throughout UK cinemas, with dedicated online support. www.nwda.co.uk Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
