It appears that not everyone in the trade press fraternity has been giving the launch of Crain’s Manchester Business quite as much coverage as How-Do…
Porter: disappointed Well, that seems to be the opinion of publisher Arthur Porter anyway.Yesterday’s Media Week saw a letter penned by Porter opining that he was “very disappointed” that the publication, arguably the national leader in all matters media, did not see the launch of Crain’s as newsworthy enough to devote coverage to. “The Financial Times found our launch worthy enough to report,” argued Porter in his letter, “while Radio 5 Live featured us on its morning business programme.” (No mention of How-Do there though Arthur! Tut tut. Ed) He went on to argue: “I believe it is of interest to your readers, who control the ad spend for many of the nation's businesses, to see that there is an alternative to glossy monthly regional business mags or the press release-driven business section of the dailies.” Time will tell if the letter has any effect on those hunkering down in the Big Smoke, but for now How-Do readers (and especially Mr Porter himself) can rest assured that we will continue to cover the evolution of Crain’s, as well as any other regional publication that feels it has a story to shout about.
