Post and Echo's live Tall Ships blog attracts over 9000 visitors | Print |  Email to a friend
Wednesday, 23 July 2008
The Daily Post and Echo’s combined joint ‘marathon’ blog attracted over 9,000 people at its peak during the start of the Tall Ships weekend in Liverpool.

The joint blog, which was branded separately on the two Trinity titles, was staffed by a five-strong team of volunteers for the duration of the event, answering reader queries, running polls and uploading content.

The Daily Post and Echo’s combined joint ‘marathon’ blog attracted over 9,000 people at its peak during the start of the Tall Ships weekend in Liverpool.
Staff submitted running news items, updates on crowd and traffic situations and ensured a real flavour of proceedings was gained through text messages, Twitter and sound files via podcast site Utterz.

The live blog will remain on the site as a permanent archive of the ships' visit to the Mersey.

Steve Harrison, acting assistant editor (digital) for the Daily Post and Echo, said: "By the end of the event we had around a dozen videos uploaded, from our own reporters and from sourcing posts on YouTube, scores of photos, taken by our own photographers and by members of the Daily Post's Flickr group, and lots of comments, debate - even a poem. We were very pleased with its success."

Previous joint live blogs run by the two papers include the Queen's visit to Liverpool in May and the Liverpool Sound concert headlined by Paul McCartney in June.
