Local lifestyle magazine Sefton and West Lancashire Highlife has resorted to changing its name to Gr8 Life in the face of apparent pressure from aviation industry giant British Airways.

Local lifestyle magazine Sefton and West Lancashire Highlife has resorted to changing its names to Gr8 Life in the face of apparent pressure from aviation industry giant British Airways.
Boo and hiss
BA publishes its own in-flight title, one of the established leaders in its field, which also goes under the name High Life.

It would appear that the similarities were too much for the airline, with Rebecca Keegan, the editor of the now grounded Highlife, telling How-Do that they had been forced into the change "due to mounting pressure from BA."

Keegan and her colleagues explained the situation to their readers in the last issue and gave them the opportunity to come up with a new name.

One reader suggested Gr8 Life and the name seemingly struck the right chord with the team.

A fresh start for Summer
Keegan noted: "We have been very open and honest with our readers regarding the name change.

"All the details of the change were printed in the spring edition of the magazine, and we received more than 150 name suggestions.

"Our readers have been involved in the change as it is they who make Gr8 Life the fantastic magazine that it is."

The quarterly title, which is distributed to 20,000 ABC1 households in Southport, Formby, Ormskirk and Skelmersdale, is now carrying on in "business as usual" mode with the Summer issue out now.

Keegan said that the past two years - the title is now in its third - "have been a roller coaster ride for us" but that the team were now "very excited about the future of Gr8 Life Magazine."

In addition to the new look magazine a revamped website is also in production and due to launch soon.
