Profits surge at Ten Alps | Print |  Email to a friend

The latest financial statement from factual media outfit Ten Alps has revealed a substantial lift in the group's pre-tax profits.

The latest financial statement from factual media outfit Ten Alps has revealed a substantial lift in the group's pre-tax profits.
Connock
The firm has announced that in the six months to September pre-tax profits were up 38.5% to £1.8m (from £1.3m previously), despite a dip in revenue of 4.6% to £35.4m.

Ten Alps' two main divisions - content and communications - helped the group achieve the results through a mixture of streamlining costs and the continued migration of the business to online channels.

Chief executive Alex Connock stated: "We are pleased to achieve profits growth again despite the recession, due to the strength of our teams, the measures taken to streamline costs and the relevance of our multimedia strategy to our clients.

“Trading since September has remained in line with the management's growth targets for the full financial year and further progress has been made in online migration and product development, of which the benefit is anticipated from the 2010-11 financial year.”

The firm also revealed that it "may consider strategically tactical acquisitions that may have the potential to increase the divisions reach in fee-based activities and online."

In addition it acknowledged that "there is also real international opportunity to extend the commercial return of existing assets."

One of these assets may be Teachers TV, of which the business said it expects at least one overseas sale during the course of the next year.

It added that public sector cutbacks in the UK may work in favour of the broader business, as organisations increasingly looked to outsource comms activity to save money.

Not surprised they are making money. I went for an interview and couldn't believe my ears after asking how little they were paying to edit three titles.
Perhaps I didn't hide my disappointment very well because they didn't even have the courtesy to tell me I hadn't got the job!
