Newcastle-under-Lyme headquartered publisher PSCA, which actually has its largest office in Manchester, has been bought out by its management in a deal backed by the Royal Bank of Scotland.
The firm employs over 100 staff across three bases – it also has a Birmingham operation - and is best known for publishing the sector-leading title The Public Servant. Set up by How-Do 100’er Darren Wilson in 1999, the firm had already been through a £7m MBO backed by Aberdeen Murray Johnson in 2002. The latest deal will see Wilson net what is reported to be a ‘significant’ amount, as chief operating officer Gordon Warrender takes further control of the business. Wilson retains an equity stake in PSCA. How-Do attempted to contact Warrender in person to find out about his plans for the business, and further details of the deal, but he was unavailable for comment. PSCA generates sales that are said to range between £9m and £12m a year and publishes a portfolio of titles that includes Central Government, Defence Management Journal, The HR and Training Journal and International Development. www.publicservice.co.uk Something to add?
