Excel Publishing Company, the firm behind titles such as EN, Fleet Times and First Move North West, is looking to expand its online and events departments in a move that company bosses say will create 25 new jobs.
The development comes hot on the heels of the arrival of new operations director Gus Mackenzie, formerly the MD of Key 103, and seemingly marks an ambitious push by the Manchester, Leeds and Stockport based firm.
As part of the initiative Excel online is being re-branded as Excel Digital and will be led by Rachel McCormick. Bosses stress it will now offer “multi-platform expertise”, with specialisms including internet television and radio.
The firm’s events division, which currently handles both in-house duties and outside contracts, will be bolstered as it looks to reach out into the new domains of conferencing and exhibitions.

It has already secured its first major win in this field, with the news that the team will be organising the Timber in Construction conference, to be held in September at Old Trafford football ground.
David Ward will head up Excel Events.
Mackenzie said of the changes at the firm: "Excel already has a number of market-leading websites and events.
“This expansion is a natural progression for the company. We are developing products which will push this company to the forefront of our various markets."
The new jobs will be across web design, web journalism, event organisation and sales.
