How-Do has heard from a number of sources that a new round of redundancies has been announced at Newsquest’s Blackburn operation.
Sister titles also cutting back We understand that nine positions in the production department, dealing with the production of advertisements for the regional portfolio of papers, will be affected by the move.Details of the situation at the Gannett-owned outpost, which prints the Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn Citizen and Burnley Citizen, were scant – with phone calls and emails to the office managing director Jan Lever failing to elicit a response. If the redundancy rumours are true it marks a further sign of the continuing turmoil spreading through the heart of the local newspaper market.
