Russell Whitehair takes over Newspaper Society presidency |

Russell Whitehair, chairman of North Wales Newspapers (NWN) officially took over as the Newspaper Society president with effect from yesterday. He was previously vice president.
 Whitehair A law graduate, he began his career at a law firm in London before joining Newspaper Representations, a newspaper advertising sales and marketing company. He then set up a contract publishing business which he sold to Mediaforce 11 years ago. He is currently deputy chairman Mediaforce. He joined the board of NWN 13 years ago and has been its chairman for 11 years.
The company’s papers include the Evening and Wrexham Leaders, North Wales Chronicle and Ellesmere Port Standard. NWN has recently invested £15m in a new production plant outside Chester.
Whitehair said: "The sense of local community remains strong. The enduring quality of local press adapting, serving and meeting the needs of these communities online and in print will continue to be an essential part of the media mix.”
