The Salford Star has missed out on the overall Paul Foot Award for Campaigning Journalism, as The Doncaster Free Press journalist Deborah Wain shared top billing with David Leigh and Rob Evans of the Guardian.
The star went one better than last year, when it made it on to the award shortlist (as reported on How-Do last week), and will scoop a runner’s up war-chest of £1000 to help with future print costs. The quarterly magazine caught the judges’ eyes due to its constant campaigning against what it perceives as the poor performance of its local council. Wain, Leigh and Evans share a top prize purse of £10,000. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
