The region’s weekly newspapers are well represented this year at the Newspaper Society’s annual weekly newspaper awards.
The awards are being held on 29 November at Oulton near Leeds.
Thirty five different awards are on offer including two new categories: Newspaper Website of the Year and Sports Journalist of the Year. Lynne Anderson, communications director of the Newspaper Society, said: "We have seen a higher number of entrants for the Weekly Awards this year, which has translated into an extensive shortlist of newspaper titles. The quality of entries we have received has been excellent."
The list of regional papers shortlisted for the awards include a number of usual suspects who consistently crop up in such awards – and also a few surprises. North Wales has this year provided four shortlisted finalists.
