Shortlist Media, the firm behind free men’s weekly title Shortlist, has brought an end to the speculation of how it would handle its regional sales task, with the appointment of Manchester’s Media-Link.
Up until now the future of the brief was unclear, with some industry insiders believing the firm would open a dedicated sales office in the north west, while others maintained that there were two local sales houses in the running for the task. In the end Media-Link’s “highly motivated, enthusiastic and trusted sales operation” (in the words of Shortlist MD Karl Marsden) appears to have clinched them the account. Marsden told How-Do; “The regions house so many important agencies and clients it is critical that we can deliver them an appropriate level of service. By working with Tim (Reid – Media-Link’s MD) and his team we can deliver a level of service to the regions which would otherwise be impossible.” Shortlist launched its weekly title at the end of last month and so far appears to have been received well by both advertisers (such as Renault and Phillips) and readers. The magazine has a circulation of 500,000 and is distributed nationally, with the MEN handling the handouts in Manchester. Media-Link will marshal the digital sales opportunities on a regional basis, as well as the available magazine space.
