The managing director of Shortlist, the new free men’s weekly magazine that launches on Thursday, has told How-Do that the title is on the verge of decisions regarding both a regional sales team and its distribution arrangements.
Karl Marsden remained cagey on the details of the impending announcement and, with 500,000 copies hitting the streets in just over 24 hours, understandably short of time to stop and chat. However, he did intimate that a decision would be public knowledge by the middle of next week, refusing to Mike Soutar be pegged down on whether this would revolve around two sales houses that are believed to be competing for the business, or a dedicated in-house team.
In further developments the first issue of the magazine, set to be distributed to commuters in London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow, has been confirmed at a pagination of 48 pages, ten of which will be advertising. Reportedly Philips, Renault and O2 will be appearing across the first four issues.
Shortlist is the brainchild of publisher Mike Soutar and to date has attracted a number of high profile recruits, including; Marsden, former Nuts editor Phil Hilton, Emap advertising director Jo Fraser, Tom Bailey ex of Wallpaper and previous FHM ad manager Chris Healy.
