Sport Media acquires Front
Manchester based Sport Media Group has bought Flip Media Ltd, the publishers of Front Magazine.

The acquisition will strengthen their presence in London and enable Sport Media to tie in advertising across their publications, which include the Sport.

They will pay £125,000 in cash for the company and in addition they’ll repay loans of more than £140,000 made to Flip by its previous owners.

Front magazine is Flip’s flagship title, with a circulation of more than 40,000, it also owns Hotdog and DVD World.

“Our acquisition of Front magazine demonstrates a key part of our strategy to build a portfolio of complementary titles in order to broaden our readership and take advantage of synergies across content, advertising and production,” said Andrew Fickling, group chief executive officer.

“Front immediately gives the Group a strong and focussed editorial and advertising team in central London and bolsters our exposure to the 18 to 25-year-old male market with a magazine title that is currently growing in circulation, despite the current difficult general publishing climate.

“Under the umbrella of the Group, the excellent progress that the existing Front team has made to grow the magazine to its current position can continue with the benefit of the resources of a larger organisation. This includes access to our digital division, greater negotiating power for content, printing and advertising and economies in finance and administration.”
