Ten Alps announces results, ambitious plans and appointment of Dunleavy to the board | Print |  Email to a friend

Factual media firm Ten Alps has announced mixed but largely static interim financial results, as well as unveiling new business propositions and the appointment of communications chief executive Adrian Dunleavy to the board of the Plc.

Factual media firm Ten Alps has announced mixed but largely static interim financial results, as well as unveiling new business propositions and the appointment of communications chief executive Adrian Dunleavy to the board of the Plc.
Connock
The firm, headed up by Alex Connock, has seen revenues fall slightly from £37.6m to £37.1m for the trading period through to 30 September. Gross profit for the period climbed by 11.3% to £11.8m, while the operating profit has fallen slightly from £1.8m to £1.74m.

Ten Alps has shown no signs of blunted ambition in the current economic climate though, and yesterday announced a B2B video production service in tandem with British Telecom, as well as launching new web based TV channel GPtv.

This latter move sees the firm following up on its online forays with Vets TV, Kent TV and Teachers TV with a new service “created specifically to service the needs of UK primary care professionals, including doctors, nurses and practice management.”

It is now available to view at www.GP-TV.org

The BT agreement is a potentially major new revenue stream for the business and will see it marketing its video production services to the 200,000-plus business customers on the BT Tradespace platform.

This effectively means that Ten Alps, through its production subsidiary Twenty First Century Media, will be directly speaking to BT’s customers with its offer of producing video content on behalf of their businesses for use online. Ten Alps offers this service for price levels ranging from £800 to £5000.

New board member Dunleavy
Adrian Dunleavy, who was yesterday appointed to the board of the Plc in the position of executive director, said of the new proposition: “This is a rare thing: a brand new, fast-growing sector in a challenging advertising economy.

“We are seeing a significant shift towards the use of video among business customers, particularly as companies seek to differentiate their offering online.

“The BT Tradespace platform is a first class business services and networking opportunity for the U.K.’s small and medium sized business market. We are extremely pleased to be able to work with BT and bring a video production component to the Tradespace offering.”

The Group also announced that it was looking ahead to consolidate its position in B2B and public sector arenas through to 2012, “with B2B online video as a unique skill of the group.”

Connock said of the plans: “The strategy to 2012 is about market leadership in factual online TV – both public sector and B2B.

“We are deploying our skills, scale and assets in TV, online and print production to that end. Serious times call for serious media - and this year there has been robust demand for our kind of content.”
