Ten Alps has announced the launch of a new website, which aggregates all the stories from the publications it manages in the North. The Manchester-based Ten Alps Communications arm is behind Link2, which brings together 436 business to business magazines and directories published by the PLC, in addition to videos and breaking news.
Much like the Mydigitalnewspaper site we featured in August, it allows readers to search the database by sector and location.
News portal “Link2 gives us our first-ever opportunity to present our huge volume of trade content in searchable format on one site, to market the distribution platform to a wider audience, and deliver higher frequency and better-focussed editorial to our readership. We are targeting new online revenue opportunities and a more efficient distribution spend as a result,” explained Adrian Dunleavy, CEO of the Communications Division. The site also features a business directory, which we’re told has 40,000 entries at the time of launch. With the paid-content debate raging, Stuart Brown from Ten Alps confirmed to How-Do that the service wouldn't be subject to charges:
“This will remain free, but we are looking at introducing premium content for a price and the first logical step is events,” he said.
“If people can't attend a conference in person, they may want to pay to be ‘virtual delegates’ so they can watch or listen to speakers online.”
The announcement to the Stock Exchange this morning added that this was stage one in a larger initiative to create a “substantial B2B media asset,” a digital database featuring online, television and print. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
