Wednesday, 22 October 2008
The judges have now met and chosen their list of 100 individuals for this year’s definitive compilation of the region’s most influential media and creative folk – and all will be revealed shortly. How-Do is also pleased to announce that Alliance Fund Managers, a Liverpool-based fund management company, has agreed to partner the 2008 compilation together with law firm turner parkinson.

Last year’s inaugural ranking - How-Do’s most popular feature to date in terms of page downloads - will be reprised in early November and the 2008 edition includes a large number of new names as so many of last year’s entrants have, over the course of the year, changed jobs – voluntarily or otherwise…

The 2007 compilation can be viewed here.

The current scheduled date for publication of the list is week commencing Monday 3 November. We are changing the way we publish and rank the list this year. Rather than ranking numbers one to 20 followed by four bands of twenty individuals, this year we are ranking numbers one to 30 and thereafter will list the balance of the 70.

We are also delighted that last year’s sponsor of the Media 100, leading law firm turner parkinson, will be joined this year by Alliance Fund Managers, a private equity house based in Liverpool, which holds or has made investments in a number of the region’s best-known creative and digital companies.

Mark Fuller, Alliance’s managing director said: “We’re delighted to be working with How-Do on this project. AFM is hugely supportive of the thriving digital and creative sectors in the North West and has invested over £17m in around 120 companies in these industries including New Mind, Rippleffect, Uniform, Cybertill, Paver Smith and Mando Group. Digital and creative businesses play a vital role in the region’s economy and it is therefore hugely important that they receive the right advice and support to enable them to develop and grow. It is vital to recognise and encourage achievement.”

Last year turner parkinson joined How-Do as a sponsor of the Media 100 and we are delighted that it has renewed its association with the initiative for a second successive year.

turner parkinson LLP is a leading law firm with a reputation for friendly, innovative and partner led advice.

The firm has a dedicated creative industries team, advising a wide range of innovators, artists, software houses, publishers and marketing agencies throughout the North West and beyond.

The firm has been voted as ‘One of the region’s coolest solicitors' by a lifestyle magazine, primarily because of its creative industries work.

In addition to finance AFM also provides a range of support packages to help businesses develop and grow and maximise their chance of success.  AFM has funded numerous businesses in the digital and creative sectors including very early stage technology companies.

A variety of support initiatives have also been developed, in particular building special sector-focused networks that are aimed at bringing together people working in creative and digital businesses to enable them to make new contacts, share ideas and experiences, and listen to speakers on a variety of useful topics.
