A fireman has joined forces with two Merseyside firms to produce a series of books aimed at teaching young children about the dangers of fire.
Phil: a fire engine The Phil the Fire Engine series has been written by fireman of thirty years Dave Fanning, who was inspired to start writing after attending a fire started by a three year old where an 18 month old girl was killed.Fanning thought he could teach youngsters about fire safety through a range of entertaining illustrated tales centred on the character (pictured) of Phil. He has been joined in the project by social enterprise organisation HIT, which is promoting and distributing the series, and ethical print firm Redwood Press. The trio has already published two books and the third, Bonfire Night, is currently being made ready to market. Fanning and the two firms are keen to spread Phil’s message as widely as possible and are currently approaching schools and bookshops to take on the third instalment. www.philthefireengine.com Something to add?
