Cheshire journalist and marketing lecturer, Peter Hallett, has died of a heart attack at his home in Congleton. He was 76.
He covered the glamourous world of non-league football and was also a stalwart of the Chartered Institute of Marketing for many years.
Peter Hallett His patch was the North West Counties League and he reported on almost 1000 games, mainly for the Green ‘Un, Stoke Sentinel’s weekly sports supplement. Fans were impressed by his honest, accurate and “very fair” reporting of the matches and he appeared to remember all of them. He managed to go to Wembley with his job once, when Leek Town reached the FA Trophy final. Recently he did a lot of fundraising for his local club, Congleton Town. He was also a marketing lecturer at Staffordshire University.
