Following on from the news last week that Trinity Mirror was due to cut numerous jobs and titles within its North west portfolio, the company has made public full details of its plans.
After being contacted by How-Do a spokesperson from Trinity released a statement talking of the need for “(a) staff reorganisation, which will result in some job losses.” In addition to the cutbacks in the papers (as detailed in last week’s story) Trinity also confirmed the following:Over the coming months the following office moves will take place: The Rhyl office will close and staff will relocate to Vale Road, Llandudno Junction. The Frodsham Office will close and staff will relocate to either Commonhall Street, Chester or to Widnes. The Northwich office will close and staff will relocate to Commonhall Street, Chester. The Whitchurch office will close and staff will relocate to Commonhall Street, Chester. The Wirral News Group office in Hamilton Street, Birkenhead will close and staff will re-locate to new premises at Croft Business Park in Bromborough. The Ellesmere Port office will close and staff will also relocate to Croft Business Park. The offices in Crosby, Formby and Ormskirk will close and staff will relocate to the Tulketh Street, Southport. This news comes at a time when the local newspaper market in the region appears to be contracting (in terms of operations on the ground), as evidenced by MEN Media’s decision to close several of its offices this week.
