www.placenorthwest.co.uk , launched by property journalist Paul Unger, has appointed business development and marketing agency Davies Taylor to help deliver the commercialisation of the site, including subscriptions, advertising and sponsorship.

The dedicated North West property news website, was launched on 27 August.

Unger told How-Do that: “The product is working and people like the concept of more dedicated relevant coverage about the industry on their doorstep. We have also found a lot of interest from the property supply chain, everyone from security firms to interior designers, as well as overseas readers including architects in New York and the Netherlands.

“We are averaging 20 news stories a week which is far more regional property coverage than any other source. We have also built an excellent team of features writers, columnists and photographers to offer something different from the usual local business press.”

Davies Taylor is a new agency based in Liverpool and was launched in the summer by Andrea Davies and Karen Taylor.

Davies used to work at the Daily Post securing sponsorship for various business awards and events before leaving for business development roles in the professions and public sector. Taylor gained her experience working for accountants including Grant Thornton and law firms including Hill Dickinson.

Unger added: “Place has signed up more than 300 users in the first three months, roughly one third have paid for the annual subscription and two thirds are still on the one month free trial but converting nice and steadily.

“We have also booked several advertisers on medium term deals.

“However, the launch period has taught us that the model of online subscription payments was not convenient for everyone and we needed to adapt to offer more traditional off line sales and payment processing. That takes resource and skill and fortunately for us Davies Taylor were also just starting out and approached us with an excellent proposal.

“They are also very well connected in the property and professional services communities which is all I could have wished for in such an important partner.”

Taylor, who will manage the account, said: “We are extremely pleased to join the Place North West team. The publication supports the increasing convenient trend of Internet readership delivering quality journalism with the benefit of interactive forums and easy accessibility.”
