Well-known North West marketeer Morwenna Angove has been appointed to the role of Alton Tower’s new head of marketing, in anticipation of the theme park’s re-positioning push in 2008.
Angove joins the Tussauds Group theme park from a strategic marketing role at Manchester City Council. However, she is arguably better known for a lengthy stint as marketing director at Cheshire’s Eurocamp, where she oversaw a transitional time for the firm and enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Manchester’s BJL. In her new role Angove will play a key part in re-positioning Alton Towers as “the UK’s leading short stay destination”, emphasizing the on-site hotel proposition and no doubt drawing on that aforementioned leisure and holiday marketing pedigree. According to reports she will also be looking at mixing long and short-term strategies of increasing footfall and boosting visitor numbers in off peak seasons. The £5m Alton Tower’s account has been held within the region in the past, notably at CheethambellJWT, but is currently at DLKW in London. It is unlikely that Angove’s appointment will effect this in the short-term, with the park due to re-open its doors on 15th March. The Tussauds Group, owner of Alton Towers, was sold to Merlin Entertainment earlier this year. http://www.altontowers.com/ Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
