Property company Argent has entered into a joint venture agreement with Manchester council for its ‘Hive’ office development in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
The developer is understood to have sold the freehold to the council but will be jointly developing and managing the 100,000 plus sq ft ‘creative industries quarter’ development.
The first phase includes 76,000 sq ft of space of which the Arts Council is believed to have signed up for 18,000 sq ft.
Phase two is scheduled to complete next year.
The Hive is aimed at firms such as creative agencies, photographers and artists and will provide “modern, loft-style workspace.”
HKR Architects are behind the build for the project, which is based in the Stevenson Square area of the Northern Quarter.
