The Liverpool Chamber of Commerce has launched the initiative at the Dot Art Gallery. With the Capital of Culture celebrations in full swing, the business community has been asked to engage with the arts.
Liverpool 08 But there’s also a prize at stake, this will go to the company judged to have commissioned the most impressive public sculpture since Liverpool won the Capital of Culture status in 2003. We haven’t been told what the prize is, but it’s all about the taking part. It’s being sponsored by former Chamber of Commerce chair and Trustee of the Royal Academy, John Entwhistle: "Many visitors to Liverpool during Capital of Culture year have commented on the diversity of the city's culture, its renaissance and the unique collections in its art galleries and museums, as well as the city's stunning architecture.
"We aim to encourage business to commission original artwork and continue Liverpool's tradition of patronage of outstanding public artwork."
But there’s not much time left, the chamber’s annual dinner is in November and that’s where the winner will be announced. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
