Badly Drawn Boy, Hardeep Singh Kohli, Zimbabwean music and dance group Hodhoza and James Purnell, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, will all be at Manchester Town Hall on 17th October for the North West’s art07 Awards Party.

The party is the culmination of a four month long celebration of the region’s arts and will see one lucky recipient receive a £10,000 prize for ‘outstanding achievement in the arts in the North West’.

Organised by the Arts Council, and now in its fourth year, art07 aims to highlight the region’s rich creative talent, while encouraging participation and rewarding groups and individuals producing outstanding work.

Along with the main £10,000 prize, to be presented by James Purnell, there will be four other awards on the evening in the following categories – ‘putting the North West on the map’, ‘rising stars’, totally inspired’ and ‘unsung heroes’.

TV presenter and comedian Kohli will be MC for the evening, while Badly Drawn Boy and the acclaimed Hodhoza will provide the entertainment at the aftershow party.

Speaking about the event Michael Eakin, executive director of the Arts Council England, North West said: “We’re really pleased to be able to announce an exciting line up for the art07 awards party, which I’m sure will help us complete the event in real style.”
