The firm has been charged with organising the Federation of Infection Societies conference at Birmingham's ICC between 11 and 13 November. A gathering that has been nattily titled Infection2009.

Experts such as Prof Neil Ferguson and Prof Lindsey Davies will be speaking about the hot topic that is Swine Flu, while Comtec will busy itself managing exhibitions, a gala dinner and filming of the event.

The team also created the Infection2009 brand and its accompanying website.

Account manager Rachel Bullock commented: "When the H1N1 strain was confirmed as being pandemic in June we realised that now, more than ever, the need to bring together some of the worlds experts in pandemics and other areas of infection control was vital."

This is the first year the agency has worked alongside FIS.
