The fourth annual Creativityworks awards have been held to celebrate the creative talent that exists in the Pennine Lancashire area. The ceremony saw acclaimed designer Wayne Hemingway emerge with the special 'creative inspiration award'.
Hemingway Hemingway, famous for delivering diverse designs that take in everything from clothing lines to B&Q sheds, won the award in recognition of his contribution to promoting his native East Lancashire, in conjunction with his many design achievements. He said on receiving the gong: “East Lancashire is brimming with creativity. “The creative sector has replaced manufacturing as the second most valuable sector to the economy after the service industry – and creativity is now recognised as having massive benefit both to people’s well being and the economy. “We need to encourage and nurture the entrepreneurial and creative businesses in East Lancs to ensure that the region prospers." Alongside Hemingway, three other individuals and businesses walked away from Blackburn’s King George’s Hall with prizes to acknowledge their creative talent. They were; Blackburn college student Diane Lawson, winner of the creative student award; photography firm Lime Studios, picking up the prize for creative new business; Chadwick Dryer Architects, for the creative space award; and Bannerbags, which won the creative innovation award. www.creativityworks.info Something to add?
