Manchester Central – formerly GMEX/MICC - is to host the annual conference for the Association of Event Organisers in September, the first time the AEO has staged its annual conference in the city.
This will be the 7th annual conference for the AEO which has previously held its event at the ICC in Birmingham and The Brewery in London.
Hilary Lawson, AEO director said, “It’s great to have confirmed Manchester Central as the venue for this year’s conference. The AEO Conference brings together 350 of the ‘movers and shakers’ in the events and exhibition industry, to take a strategic look at what’s happening in the marketplace. Both the city and the venue really got behind the event proposal, and we were impressed by what they have to offer. We’re looking forward to taking the event to Manchester Central and are pleased that, once again, Revelation Event Management, will be managing the event”
The event for 350 delegates will utilise the venue’s Exchange Hall (the new name for the original Great Northern Hall) and the 800-seat Exchange Auditorium.
Paula Lorimer Paula Lorimer, Manchester Central’s sales director who brokered the deal said: “We’re delighted the AEO has chosen to host its annual conference at Manchester Central this year. It is an important occasion on the convention circuit and demonstrates the ever increasing portfolio of high profile events opting to use the venue in this new Manchester Central era.”
The Conservative Party has recently announced it will stage its Annual Conference at the venue in 2009 and 2011 and the Labour Party is set to return in 2008 and 2010 with its Annual Party Conference.
