Guardian columnist and former Panorama editor Steve Hewlett will be speaking at Salford University’s school of music, media and performance.
He’ll be joined by Los Angeles-based, showbiz blogger Sandro Monetti.
Hewlett Hewlett was awarded an honorary degree from the University in 2000 and he’ll be delivering a master class to journalism students. He’s had more than 25 years’ experience in the media, both commercial and BBC. He was head of factuals at Channel 4 and managing director of Carlton Productions. Monetti writes a Sky column “Sandro’s La-La Titbits” and his master class is entitled: “Eva Longoria, Hugh Laurie and Me in La-La Land!” "This is a brilliant opportunity for Salford students to learn about the skills needed by journalists today, straight from the people out there doing the job right now," said Clare Smith, lecturer in journalism.
"Journalism is such a broad discipline, covering everything from showbiz gossip to challenging documentaries, and it’s great that our range of guest lecturers can reflect this." The journalism guest lecture series started earlier this year with Helen Boaden, Director of News at the BBC. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
